Mati Diocese Launches Vocation Month Celebration
Diocese of Mati — “Are you willing to answer the call of Jesus?” This was the challenge given by Most. Rev. Abel C. Apigo, D.D. when the Diocese of Mati launched the celebration of Vocation Month with the theme, “Come Follow me! (Mt. 9:9” last August 31, 2018 in San Nicholas de Tolentino Cathedral.
The launching started at 1:3pm with an opening prayer led by Fr. Antonio O. Nombrefia, OSA and followed by the vocation talk given by the vocation director/directress or representative from Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (MIC), Missionary of the Infirm (MI), Order of St. Ursula (OSU), Order of St. Benedic of Tutsing (OSB), Order of Preachers (OP), Order of St. Augustine (OSA), Society of Don Bosco (SBD) Society of Divine Vocation (SDV), Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM), Catechist of St. Joseph (CSJ), Carmelite Missionary (CM) and Diocesan Seminary.
After the vocation talk, the Eucharistic celebration was followed presided by the Bishop and concelebrated by Bishop Emeritus Patricio H. Alo, D.D.; the Diocesan Vocation Director Fr. Diomedes Lagroma, DCM; Msgr. Edito S. Baňo,DCM and other diocesan and religious priests. The event was attended by more than 500 high school students from Don Bosco Training Center, Colegio San Agustin – Mati, In., Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy, Mati School of Arts and Trade, Mati National Comprehensive High School and Matiao National High School.
The culmination of the celebration will be the Vocation Jamboree on November 10-11, 2018 in St. Therese Gymnasium in the Clergy Compound, City of Mati, Davao Oriental. (Fr. Tony, OSU)
