Drug surrenderees conclude drug reform program
Fifty drug reformists concluded the First Phase Intensive Treatment of the University of Immaculate Concepcion (UIC) Kaduyog Sagop Kinabuhi Program – Community Based Rehabilitation and Aftercare Program, Sunday, September 9, in a Moving Up Ceremony held at the aforementioned university.
The reformists are from the various Barangays of Paquibato District including Brgys. Colosas, Fatima, Malabog, Pandaitan, Pañalum, Paradise Embac, and Sumimao.
Some, however, are from Brgy. 31-D, Brgy. 37-D and Brgy. 38- D.
The intensive treatment lasted for six months and circled on programs such as physiological, psychological, social, spiritual, and economic productivity.
Dr. Corazon Mamon-Umblero, Director of UIC Community Development Service, expressed that the Moving Up Ceremony will not end their intervention to such refortmists since an After Care Program shall be implemented to monitor their progress.
Dr. Umblero, added that UIC and the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) shall implement the monitoring program.
The parishes of the barangays with reformists under the program shall also contribute for the monitoring.
A Memorandum of Agreement has already been entered into by the Brgy. Colosas of Paquibato District for another batch of reformists.
Umblero added that they are focusing the hinterlands, particularly Paquibato, to remind the residents of the area that they are not left behind and that they are looked after. (Julianne A. Suarez)
