Catchfire 2018 With His Might, We Fight!
Four Catholic Charismatic communities in Davao City and guest-communities from all over the country filled the RSM Event center of the Philippine Women’s College of Davao to celebrate God’s goodness through praise and worship. The celebration dubbed as “Catchfire” was held on August 26 with the theme, “With His Might, We Fight.”
The event started with a healing session at 12:00nn, followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, DD together with Auxiliary Bishop of Davao, George Rimando, DD and Fr. Marbendear Morallas, DCD.
In his homily, Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, DD challenged the participants to rejoice and be glad amidst the uncertainties of this fast changing world. He also called us to continue our mission as baptized Christians. “How beautiful life it would be if we entrust our spirit to the Lord. We will keep the faith because we have seen the goodness of the Lord,” he said.
After the Holy Mass, Bro. Gammy Urbi of the Holy Trinity Community led the Pep Rally with chants and introduction of leaders from the other three lay groups namely: Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP), Couples for Christ (CFC), and Familia.
Three sharers inspired the crowd with their battles won in life. They are Nelson Corneja, Benjot Basa and Rodolfo Llacer, Jr.

Bro. Edgar Cadiz from the Light of the Christ (SocSarGen) quips, “The event enlightened me of our participation in the church’s mission. I am hoping that Catchfire will also be held in our place.”
Jhoree Banzon, a volunteer in the documentation team said that “we should always put in our minds that God owns us, and therefore he will fight for us. All he needs is our faith and willingness to accept him in our life.”
Before the concert ended, the host invited everyone to be a part of one among the four communities by typing “YES” to 21589787 for Globe and TM subscribers and 29290589787 for Smart and Sun users.
This is the 4th Catchfire evangelistic rally in Davao City. After the inspiration from Catchfire-Manila, the Catchfire-Davao started in 2015 at the Almendras Gym with the purpose of re-igniting the “fire” among Catholics and other Christians by allowing them to receive the fire of God’s love and to spread it to others.
