St. Maximilian Kolbe

Fr. Maximilian Kolbe in 1936St. Maximilian Kolbe was a Polish priest who had done so much for Jesus through Mary. He was a pioneer of the apostolate of the communications media when he started the circulation of the magazine, “Knights of the Immaculate.” All told, millions were distributed to different parts of the world. It certainly attracted lots of vocations and a huge seminary had to be built to house around eight hundred seminarians.

In 1941, St. Maximilian was arrested by the German Gestapo and died in Auschwitz concentration camp when he exchanged his life to one of the prisoners chosen to be executed to deter further attempts of other prisoners to escape.

In this age of rapid secularization, want of comfort, advanced technology, liberal policies; to name a few, threaten to lead us away from God. St. Maximilian envisioned a militia consecrated to the Blessed Mother to counter such worldly influences. Truly, his energy and drive for the Blessed Mother is unbelievably remarkable, an inspiration especially for the youth. May we be like this saint. (Johnny Sulit)
