Filipino Community Living Rosary in Hong Kong
It only takes one Mother Mary lover priest to lead fellow devotees on a Rosary journey.
Such a one, Head Priest Fr. John Cuff of the St. Anne Church in Stanley Hong Kong, exhorted his parishioners to pray one decade of the Holy Rosary after each mass for the whole month of May. Faithfully, the English and the Chinese mass-goers stayed to pray.
This special day in their Sunday best and joyous-spirit best, about 90 women and some men came to culminate the Mary month of May. Mostly Filipino aunties, grandmas, uncles, children from different Catholic Churches in Hong Kong wore white as angels, prayer leaders, and singers in the Filipino Community Living Rosary.
Orchestrated by God’s grace, everyone prayed the Holy Rosary reverently, in their own unique Filipino dialect way. One by one, we surrounded Mother Mary with peach-yellow roses front of the main altar right after the prayers.
Thanking those present, Fr. John invited everyone to look forward to the October living Rosary again, and to a simple meal at the parish hall.
St. Anne’s Church may have been half full but the love and laughter of the Marian devotees filled it with joy. Mama Mary is happily, expectantly looking forward to this coming October.
