Kiwanis Central Club Davao holds outreach program in ANC
DAVAO CITY—Serving the Children of the World.
Guided with this principle, the Kiwanis Central Club Davao under the Division 8 of Kiwanis International has organized an outreach program for the children under the care of the Archdiocesan Nourishment Center (ANC), June 10.
The outreach program was held at the Pope Francis House of Mercy, a center of ANC in Bucana with close to 100 malnourished children being fed Monday to Saturday until they gain proper weight and nutrition.
Led by the club’s president, Engr. Maria Gloria Sorrera, members of Kiwanis Central Club joined in distributing school supplies, slippers, loot bags, and meals for the children. Kiwanis also donated two sacks of rice for the center’s daily feeding.
The children who are residents of Bucana, with some from the Bajau tribe, participated in the games prepared by Kiwanis Central Club Davao. The kids also rendered Bible songs to the delight of the members.
In her speech, Sorrera said that Kiwanis’ mission is to serve children all over the world and being a club here in Davao, Kiwanis Central Club Davao wants to share their blessing to the children.
“Kiwanis is serving the children all over the world and we also want to help the children here in our city and our barangay. We hope that what we shared will be helpful to you,” Sorrera said.
Kiwanis Central Club Davao, a club whose members are mostly engineers, businessmen and women, and other professionals have pooled their resources to organize their first activity since the club was created last year.
Upon learning of the need to complete the flooring of the feeding center from Sr. Edna Daylisan, LGC, ANC Bucana in-charge, the members contributed cash for the center before the end of their outreach program.
“We pray that you will be blessed a million fold,” Sr. Daylisan said, adding that she hopes that other groups will also conduct the same outreach program at the Pope Francis House of Mercy, a center which started in 2015.
