Institutions and Persons and the Sacred Heart

The Church is awesomely blessed and enriched by the enduring devotion to the Sacred Heart. This spiritual blessing and enrichment is carried by institutions and persons.

There are institutions like the parishes carry the name. We have two in Davao: the Sacred Heart Parish in Obrero and the Sacred Heart Parish in Calinan.

A group of persons are the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. They are in the Spirituality Formation Center. This is a retreat house behind the Regional Major Seminary in Catalunan Grande. The Brothers run the Cor Jesu College in Digos City.

In Manila there are the Religious of the Sacred Heart which is an international organization of nuns founded in France. Their formal name is Religieus de Sacre Cor Jesu or RSCJ. They are in formation and pastoral ministry.

In France there are two famous places named after the Sacred Heart. The Sacre Cor cathedral and the Shrine of the Sacred Heart where St. Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque lived and said to have received the revelations of the Sacred Heart. The name of the shrine sounds like “Paralimonial”.

There are other shrines, holy places, congregations and associations named after the Sacred Heart. It is right to say that the popularity of this devotion has not waned.
