BEC: Diocese of Kalookan Immersion at the Diocese of Mati

On April 27th to May 1st 2018, nineteen lay coordinators from the Diocese of Kalookan visited Diocese of Mati for BEC Immersion. They were sent by Most Rev. Pablo Virgilio S. David, D.D. Bishop of Kalookan and Rev. Ruben J. Maybuena, Vicar of Pastoral Action and BEC at the Diocese of Kalookan.

They were distributed and accommodated to the seven parishes of the Diocese of Mati namely: Luzon, Sigaboy, Banaybanay, Divine Mercy, Kinablangan, Boston and Mati Cathedral.

The parish priests and GKK leaders exposed them to the activities on how to function the lay participation and leadership in the church mission of evangelization. They were able to observe the GKK leaders handle activities on how to become self-governing, self-sustaining and self-nourishing as they visited the different chapels named after their chosen patron saints.

They performed the priestly, prophetic and kingly BEC trifold mission. There is an exchange of immersion as they expressed their gratitude and joy to the GKK leaders during the processing; sharing of experiences, learning and insights with Fr. Roberto Ombon held at Mati Cathedral. It was a meaningful and memorable fellowship and agape as the BEC lay coordinators of Kalookan and GKK leaders of Mati exchanged tokens of gratefulness, saying “thank you” and will always pray for you being the prayer partner met during the despidida dinner with the presence of Rev. Fr. Edito S. Baño the parish priest of San Nicolas de Tolentino Mati Cathedral who gave an inspirational message and Rev. Fr. Roberto Ombon, the BEC Director of the Diocese of Mati who willingly accepted/supported the request of Most Rev. Pablo Virgillo S. David, D.D. bishop of the Diocese of Kalookan and Rev. Fr. Ruben J. Maybuena, Vicar for Pastoral Action and BEC Diocese of Kalookan.

It was a successful immersion with the hope that BEC leaders will continue to spread God’s message of love to the BEC members even to the remotest corner of the parishes in the diocese. (Linda Mahumot)
