Slippers, hats for Lumads of Paquibato
BRGY. COLOSAS, PAQUIBATO DISTRICT—Not a single person will be walking barefooted in Paquibato.This was the vision behind the participation of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) XI during their participation in the recently concluded Serbisyo Caravan at Sitio Panaga, Brgy. Colosas in Paquibato District, Davao City, May 17 to 18.
Organized by the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies (ARENA XI), the Serbisyo Caravan was participated by different government agencies for the benefit of the people of the area.
DPWH Davao City District Engineering Office through District Engineer Wilfredo G. Aguilar has represented DPWH XI Regional Director Allan Borromeo in the Serbisyo Caravan.
The DPWH DCDEO distributed a total of 1,000 pairs of slippers, 500 pieces of hats and 200 packs of school supplies to the delight of the people who are mostly coming from the Indigenous Peoples particularly the Ata tribe.
Construction Section Chief, Engr. Ma. Gloria Sorrera led the distribution of goods during the first day. She said that she’s happy to see children taking delight as they receive the school supplies and slippers.
Aside from the distribution of goods, DPWH DCDEO has also installed tarpaulins of ongoing projects and proposed projects for Paquibato District. The office has also produced copies of brochures of those projects which are distributed to the people during the caravan.
On the second day, May 18, a program participated by the heads of the different agencies was held wherein the guest speaker is Assistant Secretary for Political Affairs, Francis Tolentino. He was joined in by Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio.
The heads of different agencies explained the works of their respective agencies and answered some queries during the pulong-pulong after the program.
They have also renewed their commitment to peace and order in Paquibato through the projects that they will implement in the area. The chiefs of the agencies led the Signing of Commitment of Support to Peace and Development in Paquibato District, Davao City.
