Challenge to become Holy

Excerpt from Archbishop Romulo G. Valles’ homily during the 19th Parochial Fiesta Celebration of San Isidro Labrador Parish, Catalunan Grande, Davao City last May 13, 2018.

One of the ways of showing our faith in a pinoy way is to celebrate the fiesta, to choose a reason for the fiesta like a Saint, like San Isidro believing in the grace of the Lord, in the grace of salvation working in the life of the saint.

Looking at San Isidro, we become hopeful of becoming a Saint.

San Isidro is a challenge for us na mahimo kitang balaan. Your fiesta today, is also a day of rejoicing in the whole Church, celebrating the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord.

We celebrate this great fiesta not anymore our Parish Fiesta, but let us also think of the big fiesta of the Ascension of the Lord. What is this for us today? What is this fiesta for in terms of our faith?

Let us thank the Lord for the gift of faith that we have.

Jesus conquered death and ascended into heaven… In order to be ready in heaven, mag anad-anad ta sa behavior sa taga langit. That’s our challenge here on earth like San Isidro.
