Foundation reaches out to the poor, gave sacks of rice

A foundation based in Taiwan has reached out to the poor and marginalized in Davao City.

The Tzu Chi Foundation, whose base is in Taiwan and operates locally in the Philippines and in Davao has distributed sacks of rice for poor families in different areas in Davao City.

Last February 11, some 5,000 sacks of rice were given to households during the distribution at the Davao Chong Hua High School along Sta. Ana Avenue, Davao City.

Each family is given a 25-kilo sack of rice and last February 25, another 5,000 sacks were distributed.

Tzu Chi Foundation has done a survey since last year among different areas in Davao City and identified families who are in need of assistance for basic needs.

The foundation has also helped the fire victims in Sasa 11 and those families who were affected by the flood last December 23 in Davao City by giving some sleeping mats, cooking and eating utensils, and other household items.

The foundation is planning to do another rice-giving, March 4.
