Davao hosts 26th Canon Law Society of the Philippines’ Confab
DAVAO CITY—The Archdiocese of Davao has hosted the 26th National Convention of the Canon Law Society of the Philippines recently.
Pondering on the theme: “The Clergy and Consecrated Persons Towards the New Evangelization,” some 163 members of the Canon Law Society—priests, religious and lay faithful have converged to the city to participate in the talks and inputs of different speakers.
In the opening Mass last February 26, Archbishop of Davao Romulo G. Valles welcomed the delegates and thanked them for their trust to hold the seminar in the city, telling them that ‘Life is Here’—the tagline of the Davao City.
He also said the importance of discipline under the law and the need for mercy and compassion in the country.
He added that the country needs more effective enforcement of the law and not just additional legislation.
The president of the Canon Law Society of the Philippines, Fr. Junar Dela Victoria also received the emblem of the group prior to the final blessing during the opening Mass.
Meanwhile, Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, Archbishop of Cotabato led the pool of speakers during the different conferences held at the Ateneo de Davao Finster Auditorium and the other talks and workshop were held at the Marco Polo Hotel.
Holy Mass and Morning Praise were held every morning in the school’s chapel. The convention ended March 1.
