11th Archdiocesan LCCP Convention held
More than 2,000 lectors, commentators, choir members and psalmists have joined the archdiocesan convention which runs for 11 years already.
The Archdiocesan Lectors, Commentators, Choir and Psalmists (LCCP) Convention was held March 3, at the St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary (REMASE).
The 11th Archdiocesan LCCP Confab reflected on the theme: “Kon ako nga inyong Ginoo… naghugas sa inyong mga tiil… maghinugasay usab kamo…” (Jn. 13-14)
This convention is also the first time that the choir members in the Church are included in this yearly convention, prompting the Archdiocesan Liturgical Center (ALC), the organizer to change Cantors to Choir in the LCCP Acronym.
The participants listened to the input of REMASE Procurator Fr. William Cajes and the testimony coming from LCCP members.
ALC Director Fr. Joel Caasi also delivered an input about active participation in the Holy Eucharist and some notes on proper behavior and gestures during the Mass.
He said that one of the common mistakes is using the lectern or ‘ambo’ when making announcements during the Mass, adding that the lectern is only for reading the Scriptures.
Fr. Caasi also announced that the Extra-Ordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion will have their 1st convention this year.
Meanwhile Archbishop of Davao Romulo G. Valles officiated the Holy Eucharist together with priest concelebrants.
In his homily, the archbishop lauded the LCCP members for their apostolate of being the ministers of the Word of God, the Liturgy and the Eucharist.
He added that there is joy of believing and in serving the Church as what Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI said.
He also thanked them for their participation in the life of the Church as members of LCCP saying, “I can’t thank you enough.” (Photos by Rey Montilla)
