If I do not love then I am nothing
February is the month of love. It is a time for Valentine’s Day and a time for remembering love. It is also a time to put emphasis on the importance of love in our lives.
For all the over-romanticizing and blatant commercialism during the love month, it is still one of the few times of the year that people express their love and affection to their loved-ones and since Jesus tells us to love our neighbor any excuse to celebrate love either by overspending or under-spending is reasonable.
But for all it is worth and this may sound overly-used cliché, the love of God is still the best excuse to celebrate love in this month of love. His love is eternal and encompassing and we can only return the love by understanding and witnessing what is said in 1 Corinthians 13:1-3. Here it goes: If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, then I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body for hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, then I gain nothing.
