Life is Sacred

DAVAO CITY — “Life is sacred, let us understand Pro-Life in a (more) comprehensive & integral way.” This was the words of Most. Rev. Abp. Romulo Valles in an interview conducted during the celebration of the 7th Parochial Feast of Virgen Delos Remedios Parish at Crossing Bayabas, Toril last February 2.

February being celebrated as the Pro-Life Month must be a reminder for all of us to live a life that is welcoming; welcoming to life and welcoming to (new-born) children although sacrifices and (hardships) are present, everyone should still be more welcoming to life rather than to see it as a burden for it is a Gift from God, said Valles.

According to Abp. Valles, Pro-Life isn’t just about issues like birth rate, population control, (abortion) and the like but he also reiterated that Environmental and Civil concerns such as Climate Change and War on Drugs are under the scope of Pro-Life.

“Pro-life means to love and to take care of the environment — pro-life mana kay kung wala tay tubig (dili ta) pro-life. Kung ma-out of control ang climate change dili ta pro-life, kung wala tay paki alam na hugaw atong environment, ang environment destroys us, would kill us dili ka pro-life,” said Valles.

He also encouraged the youth to act against and to play a big part in stopping the menace and threats of drugs in our community.

“Pro-life ka? Pero dili ka mutagad sa kanang menace, kana bang kalat kayo ang drugs, dili ka kay silent lang ka, dili ta manghilabot ana pero active na muistorya sa hisgutan na drug kills — kani naa siguro mo mga classmate, daghan diha na basig nahibal-an nimo (na nahilambigit sa druga) o (diha gamita ang) pagka pro-life (nimo) apil ka (or befriend them) in a good way, in a responsible way kon mahimo we should be pro-life among ourselves seeing to it that your barkada, circle (of friends) ninyo would be protected against drugs” he added.

Valles said that this celebration of Pro-Life month is a highlight and a reminder for us to be mindful that having a pro-life attitude must be with us 24/7.

“Nindot usab kining Pro-life month dinhi sa tibuok Pilipinas, tungod kay sa maka usa pa, once again kay sige man unta na kay everyday – dili lang (karon bulana), sa ato pa? Pagka March wala na? So kanang Pro-life month murag pang highlight lang na ba mura bag kining usa ka buwan, makapatandog kanato na to be conscious nga ang Pro-life attitude, disposition pang huna-huna ug atung action, kanunay gyud,” he explained.
