RE: THE APPOINTMENT OF MSGR. ABEL APIGO AS THE NEW BISHOP OF THE DIOCESE OF MATI

Peace!

It is with great joy that we have come to know that REV. MSGR. ABEL C. APIGO, one of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Davao, our current Episcopal Vicar for the Clergy and Rector of Saint Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary (REMASE) of Mindanao, is now the Bishop-Elect of the Diocese of Mati. The appointment was officially announced yesterday 10 February 2018 by the Holy Father.

Indeed, this is a cause of rejoicing, thanking God for this gift. It is also our source of pride and honor for he comes from the Archdiocese of Davao. His appointment is also a cause of honor, encouragement and inspiration to us in Davao, that is, having one of us being called to serve the Church as a bishop. We pray fervently then for the new Bishop-Elect Abel C. Apigo in this difficult new ministry.

In particular, I am writing this Circular to give notice to all that in the coming days, all of us will be involved in the many tasks of preparing for his episcopal ordination. And so, let us be prepared to be called to participate in the planning and actual involvement in the many things to do relative to this big and solemn celebration.
