1st Muslim cemetery in Davao Oriental soon to open
CITY OF MATI — The first Public Muslim Cemetery in the City of Mati is soon to open. This was learned from United Association of Datu and Imam (UNADIM) head Datu Nestor Vicente not long ago, who said that the long-awaited project is a concrete solution to their community’s problem on burial grounds, allowing them to adhere to their customary burial rites and beliefs.
Provincial Muslim Cemetery Task Force head Anacleto Macatabog said that the 9-hectare property in Don Martin Marundan, Mati City, which is owned by the provincial government will also be managed and developed by the provincial government, jointly funded by the City Government of Mati. This will allegedly accommodate at least 8,206 burial plots with morgue, chapel, administration building, roads and alleys.
