“Gazing at the Cross Draws us to Christ”
I need not say anything more. It molded me to become a responsible person. My years of stay in HCDC taught me to help the less fortunate, especially the youth who need Jesus the most. I am sharing here messages of Abp. Romulo G. Valles and Msgr. Julius Rodulfa as my alma mater turned 66 in Davao City.

Message of the Archbishop
Most. Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D
Chairman of the Board of Trustees
On this Year of the Parish s Communion of Communities (2017), I extend my warm greetings to the students, employees, teachers, president and board of trustees of the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) on our 66th founding anniversary and school fiesta on 14 September 2017 with the theme Gazing at the Cross draws us to Christ.
Over the years, we marvel at the works of God over our lives and the lives of those whom we encountered at the HCDC community. Indeed, as a Christian community, we commune we share as a family and extend the family spirit to all sectors of the school, to our parishes and communities, and by the grace of God we become instruments of God’s compassion and love for everyone.
Even as we celebrate and give thanks to God, we are faced with the challenges of uncertain and difficult times. Thus, we gaze at the cross and draw us near to Christ, who empowers us to stand united as a school community, and together face the challenges with faith, hope and love for each other. As a Catholic institution, the HCDC will face the challenges with optimism, for we know fully well that every challenge gives us new opportunities for growth and development as a center for formation and evangelization.
I hope and pray that with our unwavering faith in Crucified Lord and our trusting gaze on His Holy cross that brought redemption to the world, and with the motherly accompaniment and protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, we will hold on together and follow our dreams, even as we remain faithful to the nature of the institution and to the kind of education it promotes.
God bless you all!

Message from the President
Rev. Msgr. Julius C. Rodulfa
HCDC @ 66! Every fiesta celebration is an opportunity to celebrate ad rejoice in the faith that draws us together.
Our theme, Gazing at the Cross draws us to Christ, brings to mind the Gospel story of Peter being summoned by Jesus to come to him “across the stormy waters” (Mt. 14:28-29). As long as Peter kept his focus on the Lord, all went well. He started to sink, however, when he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the high waves around him.
As one community and individually, we may not walk literally on the water but, at times, we do walk through tough situations; through waves of trials and troubles that engulf us. This is inevitable in our personal and community life of faith. To maintain our faith in the midst of such difficult situations, we are summoned to keep our eyes on Christ’s power; on the power of the Cross. We need not become casualties on the sea of life because the Lord is always near; always waiting for us with outstretched arms. With our Holy Father Pope Francis we pray: “Teach us to remain before the cross, to let the crucified gaze upon us.”
With gratitude and hope, I wish every holy crossian a meaningful fiesta!
