DavOr targets 100% drug-free brgys
DAVAO ORIENTAL (DavOr) — It might sound very ambitious but DavOr targets 100% drug cleared- barangays (barangays) before the year ends. Provincial administrator and Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) action officer Art Benjie Bulaong explained that the council is now going down to the barangays to assist them in complying with the needed documents to be declared as drug-free. To date 55 brgys were already declared drug-free, the latest being Don Martin Marundan, the first for the City of Mati.
Speaking for the provincial government, Bulaong expressed “how hard the work is for the barangays, but we really mean business here,” adding that they have to abide with the national development agenda of President Rodrigo Duterte. The provincial government, he said, has assured drug reformists of the prov’l government’s support for them to start life anew. Proof is the Davao Oriental Drug Rehabilitation Center now at its finishing stage at Brgy. Don Martin Marundan. Said Facility is funded by the Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry based in Manila. The provincial gov’t is adding two more buildings to the facility.
The city government of Mati is utilizing the evacuation center in Brgy. Sainz as an after-care center for the reformists, which is called Mati Cares Center. Bulaong emphasized that the center strives to save the drug addict from making a total wreck of his life. The ADAC officer also commended the great collaboration of the city and other local gov’t units with the PDEA and PNP to ascertain that the 100% drug-free target is doable and all efforts are on the right track.
