GKK receives orientation on Year of the Parish
In line with the 500th year of Christianity on 2021, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has outlined yearly celebrations for the faithful. They announced a nine-year journey for evangelization with different themes; 2017 is assigned as Year of the Parish.
In St. Francis of Assisi, Maa, Fr. Emmanuel Gonzaga, parish priest, formed 7 evangelizing teams to give inputs for the year of the parish. Members and officers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus GKK, Roldan Village, Ma-a were given inputs and orientation on the Year of the Parish on June 3.
Based on the orientation, a parish is composed of Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) and families form these BECs or commonly known here as Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK). Further, the speakers told the participants that there are three-fold paths for church renewal such as prayer, daily communion and reparation which leads to transformation of the heart. Transformation comes with faith, hope and love. It needs penitence and conversion. The Catholic Church has ongoing renewed evangelization as a way of celebrating the year of the parish as communion of communities. (Pamela C.V Millabe | SFAP SoCCom)
