DXGN team attends listening seminar
“You are prophets of the modern time”, said Fr. Ferdinand Lariosa to 50 volunteers and staff of the Catholic radio station, DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM at the “Enhancing the Listening Skills Seminar-Workshop” held at the BUC Conference Room, Karpentrade Building, Matina, just recently.
According to Fr. Lariosa, the spiritual director of the St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary, “the deepest form of prayer is not talking but listening.” Included in his talk were sub-topics entitled, The Theology of Listening and the Spirituality of Listening.
“Ang tawo kinahanglan maminaw sa tingog sa Ginoo. Siya dili unta mahadlok sa pagpamulong sa kamatuoran ug nga ang Ginoo, nagapamati sa iyang katawhan tungod sa dakong gugma,” he added (in vernacular).
Further, the afternoon session was facilitated by Fr. Pepe Mantica, who is also from the REMASE. He discussed about the Blocks of Active Listening and shared some recommendations on how to do away with them.
Two workshops were tried by the participants in the afternoon such as The Dialogue and The Practicum on the Principles of Active Listening. The next formation will be on May 26 at the PM Rivier Retreat House, Catalunan Grande in line with the celebration of the World Communication Sunday.
The “Enhancing the Listening Skills” training is part of the continuing formation program of the Davao Verbum Dei Media Foundation, Inc. to its manpower. It is aimed to equip the anchors in facilitating a radio program particularly a talk show.
