UP journalism workshop open for applicants
The College of Mass Communication, University of the Philippines, is calling for applicants to the 21st Lopez Jaena Community Journalism Workshop on the theme, “Science Journalism: Contextualizing Science Reporting for Communities in Mindanao.”
The workshop aims to train 25 to 30 journalists and regional science information officers from Mindanao. The four-day workshop will be held on 3-7 July 2017 in Davao City.
Full fellowship is available to journalists while partial fellowship is available to regional science information officers to cover only workshop materials, food and accommodation.
Applicants should be currently engaged in media or employed as government science information officers. They must submit (1) an application letter or letter of intent; (2) brief biographical sketch, (3) a 2×2 iD photo; (4) a published/broadcast news or feature story; and (5) a letter of endorsement from anyone of the following: applicant’s editor or supervisor, local press club head, or a Lopez Jaena Community Journalism Workshop alumnus/alumna. The deadline for submission of applications is on 22 May 2017.
