Laity told: No to charms and horoscope
“I never thought that lucky charms and even horoscope reading can be harmful. Now I realized that such things can compromise my faith,” one participant to the healing seminar shared. A campus minister participant was glad that the teachings are based on Scriptures and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The seminar was held over the weekend, February 25 and 26, at the Teresian Daughters of Mary in Matina. The two-day seminar was well attended with 115 participants coming from different parishes.
Prior to the date, members of the Mary’s Little Children Community (MLCC) in Davao, the sponsoring community, were wondering at the lack of inquiries but faith and trust in the Lord’s providence prevailed. This is Christ’s mission which they feel they are blessed to continue. They just did what they could, trusting that the Lord will do the rest. A schedule was set; speakers and venue confirmed and announcements were made. All the other things necessary were set up. There were hurdles to overcome but the members just quietly endured them. They are already aware that in this kind of ministry, anything may just happen. More important than any other preparations made was their spiritual readiness, such that confession, adoration, rosary (and cenacles), prayer meeting and Eucharist can give.
God had a pleasant surprise on that day when groups of families and friends came. One hundred five people came on the first day surpassing the community’s expectations. Another 10 people were added on the second day.
Giving healing seminars is one way of meeting the community’s call to evangelize. Its two other charisms are healing and deliverance. The need of participants for personal and intergenerational healing was addressed in the seminar. Sister Selfa Ho and Sister Wennie Mirasol, who came from their mother community in Cebu, served as resource speakers. They emphasized that some practices are contrary to our faith in God such as delving into the occult and they can harm our relationship with him. A healing Mass was presided by Fr. George Angga.
The community announced their next healing seminar to be on May 13 and 14, 2017. For inquiries contact Bro Alan at 09228105831. They also have their Center along Bacaca Road across Dizon Elementary School.
