Ipil to host 41st Mindanao priests’ convention

Blessed with the opportunity, the seven-year-old Diocese of Ipil will finally host the 41st Diocesan Clergy of Mindanao (DCM) Convention.

Together with the lay collaborators, priests and bishop, the whole clergy of the Diocese of Ipil joyfully welcome the bishops, priests and deacons from 21 archdioceses and dioceses within the ecclesiastical land of Mindanao.

The said annual convention is scheduled on February 6-8, 2017 with the theme, “DCM: Priests Building Communities and Fostering Communion.” Accordingly, the theme is in line with the pastoral direction of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), which declares 2017 as the “Year of the Parish.” In connection with the theme of this year, a talk will be given by Most Rev. Jose Cabantan, D.D. the Bishop of the Diocese of Malaybalay.

On the 6th of February, an opening mass will be presided by Most Rev. Julius S. Tonel, D.D. Bishop of Ipil at the St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral. Within the said convention – reflections, talks, sports and socio-cultural activities are also scheduled which will be held in the following venues; St. Joseph Cathedral, Marian College Gym and Provincial Capitol Complex. The convention will be ended with a mass, and the Metropolitan Archbishop of Zamboanga, Archbp. Romulo T. dela Cruz, D.D. will be presider of the said Eucharistic celebration.

This annual convention aims to renew the unity and foster deeper camaraderie among priests upon continuing the work of Christ in bringing the compassion and mercy of the Gospel to all the faithful, particularly the people of Mindanao. (Sem. Marson Louie M. Mariano)
