What do you consider as the most heartwarming film?
“I have seen a lot of inspiring movies, but my all-time favorite is “The Pursuit of Happyness.” This movie is based on a true story, it is about how difficult it could be to achieve your dreams. The movie portrays the story of Chris Gardner, an entrepreneur, who is homeless for almost one year and at the same time has to look after his child. This movie inspired me because it comes with a message that you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to reach your dreams. It shows that complaining about how difficult life can be is useless. The only way to succeed is to overcome these difficulties and challenges by being determined to chase your goals” – Bianca Tepoot, 15, Abbas Orchard Montessori School of Davao
‘“Magnifico” is a story of a young boy who had to build a coffin for her dying grandmother and who had to raise funds to buy his ill-gotten sister a wheelchair. It made me inspired after the movie led me to realize that life is not easy. There are people who are not as lucky as I am. It showed me the real-life scenario that you will do everything for your loved ones whatever it takes in order to make them happy.’ – Kim Ronquillo, 15, Davao Christian High School
“I love Big Hero 6 because it shows a healthy sibling relationship between Tadashi and Hiro. There were no unnecessary romantic relationships. Aside from that, the movie shows a racially diverse cast and it focuses on how Hiro handled his brother’s death without turning bitter and hateful.” – Marielle Benigra, 16,Davao Christian High School
‘“To Save A Life”, because it teaches us to listen to whoever is having a hard time and it shows how we can save a life in our own simple ways.’ – Cheszka Arrieta, 15, Davao Christian High School
“I really adore the movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty because it taught me to take risks in life. I realized that life is so complex yet beautiful and it is to be lived in the most amazing way we can. It made me appreciate God’s gift of life and nature more.” – Nil Badilles, 17, Ateneo De Davao University
‘“Unbroken” is a story of being an athlete, a prisoner of war. It is a story about forgiveness. It teaches us that in this life that we think that it is too hard, it makes us remember that some people suffered a lot and was tortured by fellow humans… yet the movie says that a moment of pain is worth a glory of success. The story of survival helps us to be inspired by Louis Zamperini that no problem is too big to handle.’ – David Familiar, 15, Davao Christian High School
‘“Book of Life,” because aside from love story it also shows life lessons like to follow your own dream. As a parent, you shouldn’t also dictate what your child has to become in the future. The movie also taught me that friendship is really valuable and love among couples, friends, and family is really important. We should all learn to write our own story and be able to live up the most.’ – Ruperth Lim, 15, Davao Christian High School
“I shed a lot of tears while watching ‘The Pursuit of Happyness.’ I was younger before when I watched it and despite my early age, my heart was touched by the inspiring story line. The father was the kind of father anyone would have wanted. He was the kind of dad who would do anything for his child. One of the things I did after watching the movie was hug my dad and thank the Lord because I have him. He reminds me of Will Smith’s character.” – Oona Barnes, 15, Davao Christian High School
“I consider ‘Big Hero 6’ as one of my favorite movies because it displays a realistic idea of one’s childhood. A childhood filled with different pleasant and unpleasant memories and experiences that shape us up to who we eventually become in the future. The main character, Hiro Hamada, isn’t one who is super charming or rich; however we still get to appreciate him for his kind, loving heart and his big dreams that are really stirred up by his passion and perseverance. It may be tiring to hear others saying, “even kids can make a big difference”, since it’s overused, but this movie sparked up the passion inside me and became an inspiration for me to REALLY reach for my dreams. It also reminded me that I can’t possibly do everything on my own; I must have people I call “friends” to rely on during my highest and lowest points in life. Lastly, this movie taught me that sometimes, we need to let go (Baymax) and make sacrifices for us to see the bigger picture. Endure everything until the very end and surely you will reap what you sow.” – Anicka Teves, 15, Davao Christian High School
