Davao clergy unleash inner athlete
The Fraternity of Diocesan Clergy of Davao (FDCD) held their 56th quarterly gathering inside the Dennis A. Uy-SFX-REMASE Gym last January 10. The event started with a Mass at 6.30 am, then games such as basketball, tennis doubles, and indoor games which were participated by 40 diocesan priests.
According to Regional Major Seminary (REMASE) Sports Chairperson Sem. Ruperto P. Jamili III, there are 25 players in the basketball game divided in two teams, REMASE and the Davao Clergy. REMASE emerged victorious with a score of 102-95. Moreover, there are 16 players in tennis doubles and Fr. Nanding Lariosa with Max Ocampo went out as the champions.
“So far this morning was good, because we enjoyed each other’s company. We didn’t talk about work or function. It’s a restful day for us, so far it helps a lot in rejuvenating our energy,” Msgr. Abel C. Apigo the FDCD President said.
The purpose of the said gathering is to promote brotherhood and to strengthen the bonds among priests as servants of God as Sem. Jamili III expressed, “para makacreate ug bonding ug friendship sa amua (seminarians and priests) kay anyway sa katibuk-an, pag-alagad lang man sa Simbahan ang amuang purpose.”
The event happens once in 3 months within the year for the last 14 years since 2002. (Fresa May Momo | HCDC intern)
