School’s GKK celebrates 1st fiesta

The Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) in Holy Cross of Mintal, Inc. celebrated its first feast day on November 18th which inspired thecommunity to remember the Jubilee Year of Mercy and live the virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Just like any regular feast celebrations, the community had the 9-day novena from November 8 to November 18. “I was so enthralled that I was able to participate and deepen my faith to Mama Mary during the days of the novena” said Kyra Lagang, a grade 10 student.

Procession around the school campus was done followed by a “Kasaulogan sa Pulong,” headed by Mr. Nelson Cuadra, one of Pangulo sa Liturhiya (PSL), last November 17.

The offerings received every Novena like canned goods, toiletries, noodles, and other non-perishable items were donated to the detainees in Maa city jail and packs of rice to the less fortunate. “Naka add siya ug meaning sa celebration at dagdag joy sa heart kasi masarap naman talaga sa feeling ang makapag- share sa iba” (It added more meaning to the celebration and joy to the heart since it really felt good sharing with others.) Mr. Roy Abrio, Student Activity Coordinator remarked.

The students and employees also prepared gifts for the Presentation of Mary Sisters who are old and sick as a sign of gratitude for their presence in the HCM.

The celebration was inspired by the Blessed Virgin Mary’s virtue of compassion and generosity. “Mary is our mother, intercessor, mother of our Lord Jesus and a leader of all virtues. That’s why her virtues of being merciful and compassionate should be possessed by everyone,” added Aldren Jade Dalumatan, Pangulo sa Batan-on. “She’s a model of chastity and a mother without sin. As her son, I want to follow Mary for being so generous and kind,” Mr. Dalumatan ended.

The PM Sisters sees Mama Mary as their adviser in serving the needy and guidance in following God’s will. “Mary is my spiritual mother, my inspiration and my guide,” Sr. Roselyn Garde, P.M., Pangulo sa Katilingban said. Among all the virtues of mother Mary, there is one virtue that’s best and everyone should possess. “The love of Jesus Christ” she added.

The HCM GKK is the 101st GKK under Immaculate Conception Parish in Mintal. It formally started this school year. Weekly celebration of Kasaulogan (every Tuesday afternoon) is attended by its employees and students. (Jhoana Louis Alilin/HCM Correspondent)
