San Miguel Parish launches ‘P100 para sa Sanctuaryo’

It has long been the dream of the parishioners of San Miguel Parish in Panacan to renovate its sanctuary. So, the Parish Pastoral Team (PPT) together with Fr. Jun Gimeno decided to tap Architect Violy Digal, also a parishioner and at the same time the PSK in their GKK, to design for the sanctuary.

After thorough study, discussions, revisions and polishing, the modern design was finally approved by the office of the Archbishop of Davao.

The project is estimated to cost around 3 million pesos.

With this quite big amount needed to complete the project, Fr. Jun Gimeno convened the PPT members again to strategize the fund raising activities. A concert was held last December 2015 to pilot the fund-raising project which was dubbed, ” Concierto Alang Sa Sanctuaryo ni San Miguel.”

The concert was performed by the Pusong Juan Band, an all-clergy band from the Diocese of Tagum.

The “Isang Daang Piso para sa Sanctuaryo” was launched last October 30, 2016, after the 9:00am mass.

Part of the launching activity was the unveiling of the final design of the sanctuary and the signature for a cause.

This “Isang Daang Piso para sa Sanctuaryo” scheme works as a pledge at Php 100.00/family per month for 4 months starting this month of November 2016 until February 2017.

The collection will be handled by the GKK leaders and has to be remitted to the parish every month. Currently, there are already individuals who signified their pledges and donations in various amounts as the project was announced to start this month.

Fr. Jun is very happy of the support and generosity of his parishioners and the active participation of its leaders. He is positive that this project will become another dream-come-true by the parish as it is aimed to be completed by March 2017. (Eleanor Pascua | SMP SoCCom)
