‘From darkness to the kingdom of Light’
Excerpts of homily, Closing of Year of Mercy
November 20
Gisugdan ni Yanong Muloy ang iyang homiliya sa pagpasabot sa kasaulogan niining adlawa, ang pagtak-op sa Tuig sa Kalooy ug ang Kapistahan sa Kristong Hari.
“It has a special meaning since Pope Francis has declared it together with his declaration of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy as the ending, the conclusion, the closing day, meaning the Solemnity of Christ the King of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy,” matud pa niya.
What should be our attitude? What should be in our hearts as beautifully sang with the Psalm, “Let us go rejoicing through the house of the Lord.”
Gikan sa salmo hangtud sa unang pagbasa, gihulagway si Haring David nga “commander sa Israel.” “Let us go rejoicing seeing one another as sons and daugthers of God, let us go rejoicing as God’s people rejoicing Him,” dugang niya. “Today, the closing of the church’ year, and also the closing of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, the people from one generation to the rest says, the time of David was the golden age of Israel. The time of David was really the time of the Lord. “Another king and another kingdom would come.” That is why, they call Jesus as ‘son of David” because “with Jesus they feel eternal peace. Hosanna, son of David.”
“Jesus is the image of the image of the invisible God…the first-born of all creation.” The Father has transferred us to the kingdom of His Beloved Son in whom we have redemption. He delivered us from the power of darkness. Finally, in Him, there is a new David.”
“Calvary is outside the wall of Jerusalem. He was rejected, embracing death. Mamatay tang tanan, walay exempted. He is a kind of King who defeated that enemy on the Cross. That is why, He is our King!”
Sa ebanghelyo, giingnan ni Hesus ang kawatan, “Today, you will be with me in Paradise.” Kini nagpasabot lamang nga “Jesus is the King in His Kingdom. He is the King of mercy and compassion. Ang gugma ni Hesus walay sukod. Siya ang Hari natong tanan,” panapos ni Yanong Muloy.
