Children’s Rondalla concert raises fund for retirement house
The St. Jude Parish Children’s Rondalla held a fund-raising dinner-concert last October 21 at the Davao Convention Center for the construction of a room to be constructed within the vicinity of the St. Jude Parish Church property for retired priests.
The concert dubbed as “Dinner Concert for a Cause,” featuring the forty five-member Parish Children’s Rondalla gathered around 800 benefactors, sponsors, donors, guest, and supporters.
St. Jude parish priest, Fr. Pedro P. Lamata said in his welcome, “I remember the great Fr. Horacio dela Costa, a Jesuit priest, writer, historian and nationalist. He was quoted by Manila Archbishop His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle as saying: ‘God had given the Filipino two treasures: the first one is music and the second is faith. Our melodies make our spirit soar over tragedies of life. Our faith makes us stand again, and again from fire, calamities, and wars.”
The occasion was graced also by Most Reverend Romulo G. Valles, Archbishop of Davao. In his message, he praised the Children’s Rondalla members of their beautiful performance and encouraged them to continue enhancing their God-given talents. (Juliefer L. Dumam-ag | SJP SoCCom)
