As part of the Celebration of the Year of Mercy, Catholics in Mindanao joined the 2nd Catholic Traditional Pilgrimage last July 30 themed, “Eucharistia et Misericordia (Eucharist and Mercy).

Organized by the Latin Mass Society of Davao (LMSD) a member of Archdiocesan Council of the Lay Apostolate and Integrated Movement (ACLAIM) under the spiritual guidance of Msgr. Paul Cuizon, JCD Episcopal Vicar for the Lay, the group went on a “Pilgrimage to the Holy Door” situated in the Cathedral passing through other parishes and shrines in the archdiocese.

Chairman of LMSD Bro. Arthur Agullana said that the pilgrimage was “traditional” such that all walked for 7.6 kilometer-itinerary. The pilgrimage aimed to achieve the plenary indulgence extended to the sacred devotion, and showed that the tradition of the Church is not abandoned, but is well-promoted.

Among the visited churches were Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Sta. Ana Shrine Parish, and San Pedro Cathedral. Confessions were said during the visits. “We visited Churches and during the visit, we chanted the ‘Apostles Creed’ in Latin and the official prayer for the Pope. During the pilgrimage, we prayed the Holy Rosary in Latin, Visayan, and English as well,” Agullana added. Prior to the walk, Mass in Extraordinary Form was celebrated inside the Shrine of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Buhangin.
