Cor Jesu hosts 1st Marian Cenacle
The first Marian Cenacle was held at Cor Jesu College of Digos (CJC) last July 8, Friday at 6PM. It was participated by the members of Coindre Religious Encounter (CoRe), a group made up of CJC students, alumni, personnel, and other young people organized by Brother Paul Andoy, SC and Brother Erwin Sayson, SC in school year 2014.
CoRE was named after Fr. Andre Coindre, founder of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart to answer the needs of students and personnel of Cor Jesu College who have questions about life and faith.
With this kind of religious activity, the members may be able to fully understand, appreciate and live the vision and mission entrusted by God to Fr. Coindre, and at the same time to deepen their relationship with the self, neighbors and God.
This group meets every Friday (except on First Friday for the members will attend the first Friday mass at the parish).
The session starts with praying the Rosary, followed by reading of the scripture and then with deepening of the word of God through sharing of faith experiences, then ends with a closing prayer.
Sometimes they would listen to talks from invited speakers. For the first time, Bro Erwin invited this writer of the Holy Trinity Community (HTC), a graduate of Theology at the Ignatian Religious Education Foundation who gave a background on the Cenacle.
“Cenacle” is a word for the upper room where Jesus’ apostles gathered together in prayer with his Mother Mary, and the Holy Spirit powerfully descended upon them. A cenacle of the Marian Movement of Priests consists basically of the following: Invocation to the Holy Spirit, recitation of the Holy Rosary, Prayers for our Holy Father, the Pope, Reading and meditation on one of more of the messages given in the book, “To the Priests, Our Lady’s Beloved Sons”, then “The Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”
The Marian Movement of Priests is a private association of Catholic clergy and lay associate members founded by Italian priest Fr. Stefano Gobbi in 1972 whose principal emphases are to encourage Consecration, especially of priests, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and whole-hearted fidelity to the Magisterium of the Pope. Four decades of this movement, tens of thousands of deacons, priests and bishops, including Cardinals, and millions of religious and laity, have consecrated themselves to the Blessed Virgin and pledged fidelity to the Magisterium at the Cenacles of Prayer, done publicly in Parishes or privately in homes or groups gathered weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. All the participants of this cenacle expressed that they felt Mama Mary was with them at that time they did the cenacle.

“What makes this session significant is that “the Mother of our Lord now seems to the speaker a gift to us by God. Jesus gives us His Mother. Now it’s the Mother who seems to be giving us her Son.” – Bro. Erwin Sayson
“Mother Mary tells us that she never left us and she will be with us all time as she expresses in her words, ‘My child you are not alone. I am here to pray with you.’” – Novrie Mae Sapilan, student
“After the Cenacle experience, I really felt the presence of the Lord through the intercession of our Heavenly Mother. Mama Mary was like reminding me to always remember the Lord in whatever I do, wherever I go, whoever I meet.” – Marjorie Jorillo, student
“Nakasulay ko sa pipila ka higayon nga mag Cenacle sa among panimalay. Og sama sa experience last Friday, mabati gyud nako nga atong Mahal nga Inahan anaa kanunay gauban kanato. Hilabi na sa atong pag ampo, mediating with our prayers to her Son, Our Lord Jesus. She really is the Mediatrix of All Graces. She teaches me how to perfectly love Jesus even more. Viva Maria! Viva Jesus!” – Ruther Jude Bajalla, student
