Single moms receive gifts from Tagakpan parish
According to Winston Churchill, “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.” This quotation makes us realize that true happiness can be felt through and by means of open-heartedly sharing to others some part of the blessings that God has showered upon us. For it is in giving that we receive more graces from Him.The San Francisco de Asis Parish in Tagakpan spearheaded by its parish priest, Fr. Ariel Celeste, OSJ, organized a gift-giving activity to help the single mothers who also act as fathers and breadwinners of their family last June 1, 2016. Fr. Celeste stressed in his homily the importance of having strong faith in God despite the challenges that they encountered being single mothers. He also stated that we must be thankful for these challenging moments in our lives because these will make us better persons in the future. “It is in these times that we must hold on to God and strengthen our spiritual connection”, Fr. Celeste added.
After the Eucharistic celebration basic needs of the families, such as rice, bihon, sugar, canned goods, soy sauce, and other grocery items. Furthermore, the distribution of the grocery gift items were participated by some members of the Pangulo sa Alagad of the parish.
Overwhelmed, Mrs. Evelyn Vallejo said, “Makatabang jud ning mga grocery items [sa among pamilya]. Dako jud akong pagpasalamat sa Ginoo ug sa mga tao nga nag organisa ani.” She also said that she was thankful to the parish for having this kind of activity that will not just help them survive, but also make their faith to God stronger. For Fr. Celeste, the event was memorable because it was his last parochial activity as his term will end as a parish priest soon. (Jeffren P. Miguel | SFDA SocCom)
