Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish relives Santa Cruzan tradition
Inspired by the tradition of the finding of Christ’s true cross, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish relives the Santa Cruzan to mark the end of Flores de Mayo.
The parish in Obrero, this city has organized for the first time the Santa Cruzan and Family Night last May 28, also as part of their parochial fiesta, June 3.
The Santa Cruzan began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the parish church and followed by the procession and presentation of the Sagalas headed by their Reyna Elena, Mrs. Josephine Beloy, going to the University of Southeastern Philippines Gymnasium.
The Sagalas performed a Rigodon together with their escorts to the delight of the parishioners and visitors present.
Some groups in the parish also performed while guest performer, Fr. Jovil Bongay rendered some songs to add highlight to the evening’s celebration.
Msgr. Paul Cuison, parish priest led the crowning of the Reyna Elena and the other reynas. The Hermana Mayor, Ms. Lani Diaz was also present to join the parish priest in crowning the reynas, who, in tradition accompanied Reyna Elena in finding the true cross where Christ was crucified.
The celebration of this year’s Santa Cruzan and Family Night pondered on the theme: “Maloloy-ong Kasing-kasing ni Jesus, Kadasig sa Pamilya sa Dios.”
