VDP held Summer Youth Camp 2016

Summer Youth Camp-an annual event that gathers every young people to celebrate a journey.

As Virgen Dolorosa Parish, Babak, Island Garden City of Samal celebrates Jubilee of Mercy, Year of the Eucharist and the Family, a Summer Youth Camp 2016 was held on April 22-24 with a theme, “Lowly But Chosen”.

The 3-day activity played a significant impact to the lives of the 340 participants in attendance coming from the 57 GKK of Babak District.

A maximum of 10 youth every zone and sub-zone registered under the leadership of PYA Coordinator Analiza Pasaol with the assistance of other core group members.

From day 1 to 3 many activities await the youth. This SYC also showcase the different skills and talents of the young and at the same time a chance to mingle with other youth from other GKK. Highlights are series of lectures that opened the hearts of every youth present. Praises and worships that enable them to perceive what the real essence of the camp is. To sum up, the SYC molded every participant to become holistically prepared as they may become future leaders of the nation.

“In my 3rd time of attending SYC, this is indeed the best and most enjoyable. One of the unforgettable events was the breathing isometric exercise wherein we reflected the hardships and sacrifices of our parents. Then, we came to realize to treasure their efforts”, said Rona Mae S. Mangonga of Zone 8, sub-zone 13 of Brgy. Balet.

One of the first time participants from the latest established GKK of Brgy. Tambo, Sto. Niño de Prague, Kyla M. Madera shared that after the activity her relationship to God becomes stronger and intense.

“I enjoyed. I gained many friends. I would love to join SYC next year. But most importantly this endeavor makes my faith stronger”, Kyla said.

A welcome mass started the camp and a Holy Mass concluded it. Each one went home filled with joy and love from God and looking forward for the next summer camp. (Lira S. Rubio)
