Sta Cruz honors San Jose in Fluvial Procession

Saint Joseph the Worker parish in Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur highlights the first day of the nine-day novena masses with a fluvial and ground processions. The fluvial procession was participated by the GKKs living along the coastline while the ground procession was participated by the GKKs in the mainland. Almost a hundred vessels, colorfully decorated, sailed to Passig port in Bato for the head start. These are combined vessels from Bato, Tagabuli, Tuban, Bitaug and Apo Beach. The fluvial procession took an an hour of sailing from Bato to Coronon and upon reaching the L’Circulio resort in Coronon, the ground procession started immediately which already had about 700 people on board the tricycles, single motorcycles, and private vehicles. They waited in the shore to welcome the statue of St. Joseph which was lovingly carried out by the fishermen to the carriage that will transport the image from Coronon and back to the church. Meanwhile, back in the shore, Fr Isabelo Medina, the assistant parish priest went around to conduct the blessing of the vessels on board the speed boat. While Fr Bong Lunas, the parish priest, conducted the blessing of all land vehicles entering the gate of the church and into the SMA grounds. The parishioners were very happy that they were involved in the celebration of the town fiesta through this activity. It gave way to the fishermen and the drivers of the land vehicles make a difference for the success of the celebration of the feast of St. Joseph the worker. Everyone hopes to have the same activity next year as the jubilee closes.
