ADDU to Conduct poll survey in Davao City

The Ateneo Community Engagement and Advocacy Council and University Research Council of the ADDU Research Training and Development will be conducting a political survey starting April 4-12 with optimum 1,500 respondents in all 3 districts of Davao City.

In a recent survey conducted within the ADDU Campus through its project, “Blue Vote 2016-ADDU,” it was bared that the main issues of concern by the respondents that should be responded to by the incoming local officials are drugs and drug related problems.

Ms. Lourdesita Chan, Chairperson URC said their result on issues of concern is the same with a recent Social Weather Station survey for the national leaders.

In their in-campus survey, Peace and Order came out as the top concern that the respondents would like the national candidates to act on.

As to the leadership attributes and personal attributes of political candidates, the respondents generally wanted to have leaders having good track records in passing or supporting laws/ordinance as well as the candidates’ stance in dealing with violators of these same laws/ordinances. “It means the respondents like someone who has the integrity and political will,” Chan added.

Those having mass appeal came out as the top personal attribute of political candidates in the survey.

However, the top general areas of local governance are peace and order, health, employment, basic education and food security and hunger.

The survey group established its own city-wide social survey in 2014 and its creation therefore predicated on the felt need to enhance the university’s data gathering capacity as an academic institution in carrying out tracking surveys or polls concerning relevant and current issues of the day.

Through its own CWSS, the university then hopes to contribute not only in gathering data of awareness-perception, opinion-attribute or socio-demographic type, but also in building a database for analytic purposes—for wider dissemination at the local, regional, national and international level.

The same system or process will be employed for the city-wide survey with 98.6% efficacy.
