February 23, 2016 at the University of the Immaculate Conception main campus opened the 3-day activity with a mass presided by father Ritsche Gamaya. The priest mentioned in his homily, “Authority is not for power and self gain rather it is founded for authority of service and care for others.” This is to emphasize that this event is all about giving care and love to other people by providing health assistance.

The school had the collaborative week long community extension with a theme “Isang Linggong Pag-ibig, Pakikiisa sa Taon ng Awa.” The said event aimed to provide health assistance by giving free medical check-up on cholesterol, Fast Blood Sugar, Hemoglobin, Hematocrit and blood typing. Other programs conducted during the event was a healthy life style check and lecture.

Volunteers shared that “They felt good when they were able to help other people even if they are still students; for them it will never be a reason to limit themselves to provide care and service with humility to others.”

Jerson Mantawel, a student, was one of the beneficiaries of this activity said, “It is really new for me and I am so happy that the school was able to come up with this kind of initiative where it allows us to have access on health services.”

S. Maria Merma Liza Shalah, RVM, Dean of College and at the same the Dean of Nursing said that this annual event, which started in 2008, was first established by the BS Nursing to conduct community extension health programs. She added, “This year it becomes bigger and a collaborative effort where we allowed other programs from medical courses in the school to participate.” The 3 other programs were the Pharmacy/Chemistry, Medical and Laboratory and the Nutrition and Dietary together with HRM/Tourism program.
