Examination of Conscience

Lent continues to invite us to pause and take deeper looks within our hearts, to be renewed and recharged in our relationship of love with our God who will never abandon us, but will always meet us half-way to uplift and to restore us on the right path of life’s journey.

He extends His hand in unending friendship, and the sacrament of Reconciliation becomes our means of homecoming to a waiting Most Merciful Father ready to embrace His ‘lost sheep’ with indescribable joy. May we see with the eyes of the Spirit the wrongs we have done and humbly admit our faults and ask forgiveness as well as have the courage and perseverance to seek the needed change and reform that will open and challenge our wills to remain fixed on the Call of the Crucified to ‘fill the world with His love’, to care as Jesus did.

“I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance” (Luke 15:7), Jesus tells us in His parable. Dear God, we are sorry for our sins, and thank you for your forgiving love and boundless mercy, and sending us your Son to reconcile us to you through His passion, death and resurrection. Through your reconciling grace, accompany us in our desert journey and in our resolve to love as Jesus did. Amen.
