Religious told Prayer is an Encounter with the Lord
The Archdiocese of Davao, celebrated the ending of the Year of Consecrated Life February 2, 2016 at San Pedro Cathedral with a mass officiated by Archbishop Romulo Valles and concelebrated by Archbishop Emeritus Fernando Capalla, Bishop George Rimando and over 20 priests. Among them were the Episcopal Vicar for religious, Fr. William ‘Bill’ Larousse, MM, Clergy of Davao, Religious Priests, Brothers , Sisters and a big crowd of the laity.
In his inspiring homily, Archbishop Valles reminded us that this celebration is for the whole Church. He acknowledged the contribution of the Missionary Order. Augustinian, Jesuits and the PIME who built strong foundations and shaped the Diocese into what it is today.
The Religious were reminded that prayer is an encounter with the Lord! When we encounter Him, we are transformed and brought to amazement by the wonder of His loving care for us. St. John Paul II, who started this ‘Day for Consecrated Life’ was often remembered in gratitude, for this wonderful way of celebrating the Presentation of the Lord.
The young men and women were encouraged to consider consecrated life as a life option. (Sr. Shiela Manalo, SM)
