OLLP ends 13th fiesta with fun and memories
The Pangulo sa Liturhiya of the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal ends the parochial fiesta with a victory over Davao clergy with 103-81 score during their friendly basketball match held at the Central Park Multipurpose Gym last February 14. The parishioners enjoyed the entire game with the participation of about ten diocesan priests. Among them, Father Johnny Autida, Father Rene Ribac, Father Dioscoro Saniel and Father Allan Rodriguez gained instant popularity to some of the parishioners. The PSL players were so thankful for this another opportunity to play basketball with the priests. “Maayo jud manula ang mga pari,” commented a player from PSL.
The whole week fiesta celebration was so colorful and meaningful. The parish official newsletter, Mary’s Trumpet, was also launched. “Finally, this is it!” applauded OLLP Parish Priest Father Dexter C. Veloso. This parish newsletter is “a venue for the expression of our love and the fusion of creativity expressed in literature… a genuine instrument of evangelization,” said Father Veloso in his Parish Priest’s Corner of the OLLP’s Mary’s Trumpet.
In the evening of February 12, selected ministries showcased their various talents following the Filipiniana theme. It was a night jam-packed with laughter and memories of what a fiesta truly was that made the parishioners so glad and fulfilled as they held their procession of all GKK patrons at the dawn on the next day.
The OLLP fiesta celebration also included the conduct of medical-dental services through PSAM and Parish Caritas last February 7 with the assistance of a medical doctor, an ophthalmologist and eight dentists. More than a hundred of parishioners benefited from their free services.
A whole day celebration of the World Day for the Sick and the Aged last February 11 highlighted the OLLP fiesta as many sick and aged parishioners flocked to the church as the parish celebrated within a day the Sacraments of Penance, Anointing of the Sick and the Holy Eucharist.
In line with festivities of the OLLP, the PSAM also joins the National Alay Kapwa 2016 that was launched last February 10, Ash Wednesday, and will culminate on Holy Thursday, March 24. This is in celebration of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. (Vonz M. Hijada)
