New Year’s Message

TO the editorial staff, fellow columnists, readers and advertisers of Davao Catholic Herald I wish to convey my respectful greetings and a prayer for a peaceful New Year 2016.

I pray that Davao Catholic Herald remains one of the strong and consistent reminders of the truth contained in the following words: Ageing is eternity shining into time.

Ageing is about the inevitable and irresistible march of time. ‎Our faith reminds us that there is in us something that does not age. This something is the heart, not the physical heart, but the core of the human person where God lives in the order of grace. St. Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:16 confirms this: “That is why we do not waver; indeed, though this outer human nature of ours may be falling into decay, at the same time our inner human nature is renewed day by day.” The Eucharist makes this possible because Jesus is alive and is “the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Heb.8: 13).
