Right Giving
Right giving does not spoil the receiver nor hurt the giver. This is a most important distinction. If you give and you spoil the receiver, as a child becomes spoiled, such is not the right kind of charity or of giving.
If you give, give for the purpose of helping and benefiting the recipient. See to it too that you yourself do not become spiritually bankrupt. You must not destroy the hen that produces the golden eggs. Jesus said: “Give and it shall be given to you. In the measure you give, it shall come back to you, overflowing” (Lk. 6:36-38).
If you serve and give with quality, the world shall come knocking at your doors. But if you cheat yourself and others, then the world shall be wary of buying your goods. Remember too the blessing promised by the Lord Jesus to those willing to give, as St. Paul himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).
