Parish shows peace through “Laudato Si” garden
The Ascension of the Lord Parish Priest Fr. Leonardo A. Dublan Jr. challenged his parishioners as the Spirituality of Stewardship Campaign turned 5 years old this month.
He said, “How do you, stewards of Christ, prepare the way of the Lord? How do you and your parish respond to Pope Francis’ Encyclical “Laudato Si”? Let us be the start of change and together let us prepare our common home for the coming of our Lord.”
To commemorate this event, activities were lined up such as:
- Altar Call, an offering of in-kind donations for the Food and Health Program intended for the needs of parish’s indigents;
- General Assembly of all stewards with Fr. Orly Angelia as the speaker. Fr. Angelia expounded on the “Laudato Si” encylical of Pope Francis. He said that development in any form is acceptable as long as it will respect the humanity and it will uphold the integrity of God’s creation;
- Newsletter distribution which contains the annual report of the SOS and some updates;
- Pangulo sa Alagad (PSA) send-off;
- Blessing of the garden and poultry – Auxiliary Bishop of Davao Bp. George Rimando officiated the blessing of an urban container gardening materialized by the Parish Social Action Ministry. It produces organic vegetables, fish, and chicken, while it aims to reduce, reuse and recycle waste, and promote a healthy way of life.
As Advent calls us to prepare for the way of the Lord, respecting God’s creation through SOS is the parish’ way to “straighten” this path. (Regine Baguio | ALP SoCCom)
