March of Saints

The San Isidro Labrador Parish in Catalunan Grande honor the Saints again this year. From five (5) zones, thirty four (34) GKKs participated in the March of the Saints coming as their GKK’s patron saint. Three year-old kids as Santo Niños, to fathers and granddads as St. Joseph/ St. Michael/ St. Isidore, and grandmoms as Mother Mary in Her many titles, to mention just a few, marched through the beat of the Holy Rosary. Even PWHS’s own spiritual director Fr. Joel Caasi was dressed, and was a close look-alike of St. Pedro Calungsod!

With the increasing enthusiastic involvement of parishioners in this event, this was the 2nd year that the San Isidro Labrador Parish held the March of the Saints. Better planned and organised, the program flowed smoothly.

Blessed with the Holy Mass, the participants had a picture-taking per GKK in front of the altar. Pinoys that we are, pictures were taken too at any chance we saw. As the GKKs were called, the saints took their sequence with fathers carrying their Santo Niño sons and mothers and lolas holding the hands of their children saints.

Despite the brown-out, the emcees did well in enlivening the program. The call to stage per GKK was followed by picture taking. The food committee was so efficient that parishioners got snacks as they got down from the stage, and lugaw as they returned to their place. From kid saints, to drivers, and barangay tanods outside of the basketball court, everyone ate.

The PWHS is so blessed with its Spiritual Director Fr. Joel Caasi who always had time to meet, plan and coordinate with the officers. All one in heart and mind, we believe that ghosts, zombies, demons and all halloween characters do not represent the image of GOD that we all are.

Also honored this year was St. Gertrude in the person of PWHS Coordinator Mary Sumalinog. With St. Gertrude, for more parishes to participate next year and all the coming years, we pray: ETERNAL FATHER, WE OFFER YOU THE MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD OF THY DIVINE SON JESUS CHRIST, IN UNION WITH ALL THE HOLY MASSES SAID THROUGH OUT THE WORLD TODAY, FOR ALL THE HOLY SOULS IN PURGATORY, FOR SINNERS EVERYWHERE, FOR SINNERS IN YOUR UNIVERSAL CHURCH, THOSE IN OUR OWN HOMES, AND WITHIN OUR FAMILIES, AMEN.
