‘I will be back’
We were attending the mass at the Carmelite Monastery when their working nun invited us to meet the sisters of the congregation. When the said meeting was over, I thought that we will be shaking hands and will be sitting beside the Carmelite nuns. But the scene really surprised me. They were separated from us by these bars. Their cloistered situation seems so hard, and meeting them, for me is bittersweet.
This scene broke my heart. I cannot imagine myself living in seclusion like them. But I could see their gratitude in their eyes as we visited them. The joy in their smiles are also priceless that I became teary-eyed as we left the place. As we departed, the superior said, “O final blessing muna”. I thought that they will be the one to bless us, but what they really meant actually was they were asking the blessing of our CCMD director/priest, Fr. Christopher Thadeos Ganzon. Such humility made me feel blessed. And as we went home, one of them said, “Bisitaha mi ha pag maadto mo diri sa Mati”. I promised myself that I will be back. Promise, sisters, I will.
