Great things come in small packages
“For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare, not for woe! Plans to give you a future full of hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)Lately, I’ve been taking myself to different scenic routes to enjoy and heed the great manifestation of God’s glory in the world. It was because deep down inside me is a little child whose nature delights in the fundamental beauty of His creation. In my venture, though I focused on my inner musings more than being sensitive to materialism around me, I still found how the Lord still has blessed me and provided me with what I needed in my journey.
There are definitely two options in life: continue dreaming or chasing dreams. In chasing the dreams, one needs determination and perseverance. Thinking to myself the dreams I am planning to pursue and considering where I am standing right now, I realized that I must put a timeline to each goal and that everything is possible as long as there is faith, vision, determination and persistence.
Someone told me that it’s better to listen to the dreams I had when I was still young, for they were pure before I was sent out to the world to dream some more. Faith in practice, I chose to reconsider every opportunity to dream by spending time with nature, which tranquility had helped me meet my inner soul. Indeed, God is gracious. I met several people whom I have not known and amazed with their simplicity, which became the channel for God’s abundance in their lives — through the foods they eat, through the relationships they have, through the joy and the smiles they bring to every people they meet which inspired me to keep my dreams in mind while striving to be as simple as I can be.
These marvelous things made me believe that great things do come in small packages. All we need is to be sensitive enough to feel the wonders of God’s love around us. In silence, He is generous with all His ways and finds ways to pursue us back to His embrace. Truly, the Lord loves us and knows the deepest secrets of our hearts and He knows what we needed even before we recognize them. He knows our simplest joys, amused at our childishness and proud of our well-being if our intentions are for His delight. He loves us not because of what we can do, not because of what we do, not because of our reputation, but because of who He is, who loves unconditionally with no ifs and buts. And, that confidence in His love would make us realize that we are also called to trust and have faith, despite all the doubts and uncertainties that is happening in our lives.
And now, as I would go to my daily routine in the corporate world, what had made me more grateful is the fact that God moves in mysterious ways and He would intervene in places, through things, through people and circumstances to redirect our path to salvation. He would always lead us not to where we wanted but to what we really needed. All we’ve got to do is to be loving, humble and obedient to His leading. “May we always honour and listen to the Divine within us.” (Beverly L. Rabaja)
