Samal GKK: Recipient of SPC Extension Program
The Arts and Sciences (AS) Department of San Pedro College, in partnership with the Dominican Sisters of the Trinity join the ministers and members of GKK San Roque in celebrating the feast day of their patron in Barangay Tagbay, Island Garden City of Samal, recently. Themed, “Katilingban nga Nahigugma sa Dios, Nahigugma sa mga Kabus,” the Holy Eucharist was presided by the parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Peñaplata, Island Garden City of Samal, Fr. Danilo Dotollo, D.C.D.
The said GKK is a recipient as the AS Department supports the formation of this community by conducting basic orientation on the celebration of the liturgy, moral-spiritual-socio-cultural awareness, water supply system and other livelihood projects, as well the erection of their new chapel. This unceasing mission of the department,as part of its community extension service program, is affirmed by its partner in a message given by Vice President for Finance of San Pedro College, Sr. Indalyn Kuizon, O.P. considering that the chapel is not yet finished. The nun manifested joy seeing the increasing number of members in the GKK, while reminiscing the past. She inspired them to actively collaborate with the local Church of Davao in preaching the Gospel through the ministry adding that each member should contribute his/her part in the GKK.
PSK Merlinda Peroso expressed her heartfelt gratitude to SPC and the Dominicans for helping their GKK despite the distance. Moreover, Barangay Kagawad Maricel Cajeras likewise appreciated the support extended to them by the College.
The Department and its partners determined themselves not only to finish the chapel building for liturgical celebrations, but to catechize the GKK members as well. Along with the AS-Community Extension Service (CES) Committee, some faculty members, Finance Office staff, HR Director Reynaldo V. Garote, and CES Director Leah Zamora also visited the area.
