ABRAHAM – His name means “Father of a Multitude.” He leaves his homeland because God promises to give him another. He becomes the father, not just of one child or even nation but of a multitude of people as numerous as the stars in the sky and sand on the seashore.

His work: Abraham was a tender of livestock.

His character: He was a man of faith who obediently followed Yahweh even in the most challenging of circumstances.

His Sorrow: When times that Abraham had compromised God’s instructions.

His Triumph: He had obeyed God, and received God’s blessing with a son in his old age.

Promises:
“I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse”, Gen. 12:2-3

“Through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me”, Gen. 22:18

Legacy in the Bible: Genesis 12:10-20

Reflection: We thank and praise God for not only unveiling His eternal plans, but revealing His intentions through the promises He has made, as well. We also offer our thanksgiving for this one man’s extraordinary obedience, we have benefited from his life’s accomplishments. We are so sorry that at times we failed and were not able to believe in God’s promises. Let us pray so that He will guide us in making our faith visible through obedience to God and His Laws.
