DAYCA Selects New Kalakbay Staff
THE Davao Archdiocesan Youth Coordinating Apostolate (DAYCA) has organized a journalism and social media workshop in St. Jude Parish last August 1, 2015. Selected youth leaders, writers, artists, students and young professionals from various parishes and church organizations attended it. The trained group is to compose the Kalakbay Newsletter Editorial Team. The newsletter which is also published as the Davao Catholic Herald’s Youth Corner aims to invite more youth to spread good news and teachings of the church.
A youth participant from St. Francis of Assisi, Laverna Quasi Parish Ms. Jay Ann Peteros said, “I have learned that only few participates in the evangelization process of the church, but I am hopeful for the potential of this generation in contributing more of our time, talents, and treasure. The media will inspire others to be more active in the church.”
Aside from the basics in news writing, managing social media accounts was also discussed. Elaine of San Pablo Parish shares: “Dapat dili diay ta dapat mag share or click ng click lang, dapat mag think din tayo kay nay dakong epekto ang atong “shares” sa uban.
The pool of speakers from the Davao Verbum Dei Media Foundation, Inc. hopes to give more training to these newbies as Kalakbay Regie Gonzales expressed: “Lumawak pa nawa ang aking kaalaman tungkol sa media at marami pa sana akong workshop na masalihan.” (Jecy Opada)
